How it works

Set up in three steps

PatchTalk gives your crew clear, low-latency party-line communication without dedicated intercom hardware. Open a link on any phone, tablet or laptop, pair a standard USB or Bluetooth headset, and join the channels your role needs: camera, stage, lighting, director and more.

  1. Step 1: Plug in

Connect any USB or Bluetooth headset to your phone, tablet or laptop.

  2. Step 2: Join

Open your team's link and pick your channels.

  3. Step 3: Talk

Tap, hold or just speak, and always see whether your mic is live.

Features

Everything your crew needs to stay in touch

  • Party-line channels

Listen to several channels at once and talk to the one you choose.

  • Works with your headset

Any USB or Bluetooth headset, with boom-arm mute on compatible models.

  • Clear mute state

Always see whether your mic is live.

  • Local-first

A venue master keeps talkback running with no internet.

  • Cloud bridge

Offsite crew join the same channels from anywhere.

  • Built for poor networks

Low-bandwidth audio, automatic reconnect and a connection-quality indicator.

  • Teams and projects

Organisations, roles, invite links and per-event channels.

  • Every device

Web first, with desktop and mobile apps to follow.

Local and cloud

Fast at the venue. Reachable from anywhere.

One device at your venue runs the show, so talkback stays fast and keeps working without internet. A cloud connection brings in anyone offsite, and a spare device can take over if the main one fails.

Diagram: crew devices at the venue connect over the local network to a local master device, with a spare device on standby. The local master links through a bridge to a cloud node, which connects offsite crew to the same channels.

Headsets

Works with the headset you already have

No dedicated intercom hardware. If it plugs into a phone, tablet or laptop, it can join the channel.

USB headsets

Wired headsets that connect by USB, including office and gaming headsets with a boom mic.

Bluetooth headsets

Wireless headsets paired to your phone, tablet or laptop.

Boom-arm mute: on compatible models, lifting the boom arm will mute your mic in the app too.

Recommended headsets

We plan to recommend a small set of headsets we have tested with PatchTalk, including which ones support boom-arm mute. We will list them here before launch. Any USB or Bluetooth headset will still work.

For teams

Built for teams of every size

Create an organisation, set up a project for each event, give people the right role, and invite guests with an expiring link. Each team's channels stay private to that team.

  • Organisations

One home for your crew, your projects and who can do what.

  • Projects

A project for each event, with its own set of channels.

  • Roles

Decide who can manage the project and who can talk on each channel.

  • Invite links

Bring in guests and freelancers with a link that expires.
